SEO key to increasing sales

One of the most challenging things for business professionals in an increasingly digital world is finding ways to draw new clients to a website. With all the different sites to choose from, how can a company attract the type of consumers they are targeting? Among the fastest-growing strategies is using search engine optimization.

The technique relies on businesses creating content with specific words, called keywords, which will show up on searches for the desired term. By implementing the SEO strategy, many business professionals can increase the number of hits on their website which will likely increase the total number of sales leads.

However, the SEO strategy changed in recent months when the world's most popular search engine, Google, announced that it would be updating its Panda algorithm so that more high quality results would show up earlier than before.

But according to Adam Bunn, director of SEO for London-based marketing agency Greenlight, the changes will only effect low-quality websites.

"Panda only targets and affects a small minority of poor quality sites, and the things businesses need to do to avoid being hit by Panda are the things that any good business should be doing anyway," Bunn told ZDNet Asia in an e-mail interview.
