“Search Plus Your World” Feature Added to Google+
January 10th, 2012
According to Lance Ulanoff of Mashable, Google+ is set to release its latest feature that will separate itself from the rest of the social media world. Google+ users as well as users logged in to Google will now have the ability to search against both the general web and their own Google+ social graph. Ulanoff states, "That's right; Google+ circles, photos, posts and more will be integrated into search in ways other social platforms can only dream about."
This new feature intertwines web based searching with a search on your personal Google+ account, bringing social media to new heights. Ulanoff goes on to say "The deep integration of Google+ in search does not stop there, though. Google+ profiles will now be a part of the search query box. As long as you're signed into Google+, Google will try to finish your search query with the most likely in-your-Circles match. Google, in other words, is assuming that you're looking for someone you know and not just a random person with the same name." The feature will open up options for users, connecting them to users searching or posting similar items. This could become a great way to connect with experts in relevant fields across various topics.
According to a forecast, Google+ is predicted to reach over 400 million users by the end of the year. The latest feature could accelerate growth to an even higher level, as it will allow users to blend social search with internet based search in a manner not seen before in search technology.
