The online marketing world is seeing an increase in hiring but in what may be a first, one company is hiring an intern to just use Twitter.

Pizza Hut, the popular pizza franchise, is looking for a "twintern" – a college intern to use the popular micro-blogging service as part of the PR team for the company.

According to a job post on the company’s website, the "twintern" will not only attend marketing meetings and special events and tweet about them, but he or she will also search the web for "off-the-wall stories or anything else quirky and fun" that may be of interest to Pizza Hut followers.

Bob Kraut, vice president of marketing communications at Pizza Hut, told the New York Times that the twintern will also be monitoring the internet for potentially negative press about the company and alert superiors in an effort to keep things from getting out of hand.

Kraut told the Times that the time seems right to have someone taking advantage of this technology for the company.

"Realistically, because there are these tools out in the marketplace, and they have a multiplier effect, to have us looking and monitoring this in a more dedicated fashion makes sense for us," he told the paper. "Once there are a lot of people using any form of media, large advertisers such as Pizza Hut gravitate towards it."

Pizza Hut rival Domino’s appears to already be getting on the Twitter bandwagon after an embarrassing incident left the company scrambling to get some negative news out of the headlines.ADNFCR-1844-ID-19129957-ADNFCR
