New Google update could help B2B marketing
2010-05-03
Last week, Google made several changes to its Local Business Center. It was renamed to Google Places, and, among other new features, allows business to list themselves based on the location they serve, not just their physical location. These updates may end up helping B2B online marketing, suggests an article on Search Engine Land. Many B2B companies serve a large region. Before, Google would list business search results based on a business' location, making it hard for businesses located outside of their target area to get noticed.
With the new Google Places, though, businesses can list themselves based on the region they serve. When a business owner is looking for a product or service, they will now see those businesses that are located outside their immediate area.
The article still recommends, though, that B2B business owners focus on other forms of marketing as well, like B2B search engine optimization.
The Google Places update also allows business owners to tag their locations on Google Maps, upload photographs, and offer coupon codes, the company reported on its blog.
