Google and AOL extend partnership

September 9th, 2010

Google and AOL are extended their relationship.

Google and AOL announced on Thursday that they have renewed and expanded their partnership, perhaps giving B2B online marketing campaigns conducted through the sites more value.

As per the renewed agreement, Google will provide AOL with additional advertising products and services, while AOL will begin to bring its content to Google’s properties, notably YouTube. Search products were the emphasis of the announcement, with Google slated to dramatically improve AOL’s search functions.

“AOL users will be getting a better search and search ads experience from the best search company in the world – Google,” said Tim Armstrong, AOL’s chairman and CEO. In addition to search, Google will also provide other display advertising services for the network.

As AOL observed, the partnership will enable the company to broaden its scope, reaching consumers worldwide.

While Google and AOL have renewed their partnership, the Yahoo-to-Bing transfer has drawn the most attention from B2B marketers. In August, Yahoo begin routing all organic queries to Bing, while paid search campaigns will migrate to Microsoft’s search engine by mid-October.
