Global ad spend to increase in coming years

December 9th, 2011

Spending is global.

B2B marketing is growing on a global level, and is predicted to accelerate even more in the future, according to a report from ZenithOptimedia, BtoB Online reports.

The ZenithOptimedia Adspend Forecast Update projects incremental gains in ad spend in the coming years. Global advertising expenditures have already exceeded 2010 levels by 3.5 percent ($464 billion),and that percentage is projected to increase to 4.7 in 2012, 5.2 in 2013 and 5.8 in 2014. This indicates that advertisers are "in a much stronger position to invest in marketing than at the start of the last downturn," according to the report.

Paid search accounted for the largest amount of spending at 25.6 percent, followed by display marketing at 22.6 percent.

Furthermore, developing markets are also spending more on ads, as they're projected to increase expenditures from 32.3 percent to 35.9 percent over the next three years. In addition, 10 of these markets are expected to deliver half of all global ad spending from 2011 to 2014.
