Bing Teams Up with Klout to Deliver Expert Social Search Results
September 28th, 2012
In an effort to advance the integration of search and social, Bing recently announced its partnership with Klout; the alliance will allow Bing to incorporate Klout scores within its search sidebar.
Bing launched its initial sidebar in May, bringing the user relevant information from friends, experts, and fans across networks to share profiles that may help users search for advice, tips, media buzz, etc. on a particular topic. This latest partnership with Klout can bring this experience to the next level, as the search engine will now associate Klout scores with social profiles within the sidebar to deliver relevant, expert-level social results.
From the post, “On Bing, we will surface Klout scores and influential topics for many of the experts in the People Who Know section of the sidebar. Klout as a social influence signal in the sidebar will really help customers connect with the right experts on the topics they are searching for.”
While logged into a social network, a search on Bing will offer standard search results while incorporating “expert” social profiles on a given topic to provide the best advice from the most respected individuals within an industry. As this feature continues to roll out, there could be significant opportunities for marketers to build brand or individual social profiles to appear in these top influencer results, fostering brand awareness and positioning companies to become industry leaders.
B2B SEO and social media continues to evolve, and, in this case, they go hand-in-hand. Klout paired with Bing will advance search engine optimization to the next level, providing relevant social profiles into search.
