B2B companies plan to increase online spending in 2010

June 9th, 2009

The biggest increase in 2010 will likely be online marketing

Despite the ongoing recession it appears that business-to-business companies plan to moderately increase marketing budgets throughout 2009, but that number will be ratcheted up by 2010.

According to a new survey from BtoB magazine, although only 26.1 percent of respondents said they plan to increase spending this year, 53 percent said they plan on increasing spending next year.

Of that spending, the largest increase appears to be in online marketing with 68.7 percent of companies saying they plan to spend more online in 2010. Only 2.6 percent said they plan to decrease spending in that category.

Even this year, with the recession still looming, the biggest increase in budgets will be in online marketing. According to the report, of the companies that will increase spending this year, 49.2 percent plan for their online marketing budget to rise. Only 6.8 percent say their online spending will drop.

The expectations for companies in 2009 fall in line with recent statistics from the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) which found that online advertising revenues had fallen 5 percent during the first quarter of 2009.ADNFCR-1844-ID-19211014-ADNFCR
