Agriculture sector makes headway in print ads

November 18th, 2011

Agriculture industry doing well in print.

According to a recent report from American Business Media's Business Information Network, B2B print ad pages showed marked year-over-year gains this past summer, according to BtoB Media Business.

Ad pages increased by 0.5 percent in August compared to that same time period in 2010. Furthermore, researchers found that ad pages were up by 1.8 percent over the first eight months of the year, compared with the period a year earlier.

The agriculture industry proved to be the most fruitful for print ads in August year-over-year, with a 13.5 percent increase. Science, research and development experienced the biggest loss over that time, at 13.7 percent.

When comparing the January-to-August time period, transportation and logistics proved to be the most prominent print ad sector with a 14.7 percent gain, while science, research and development was once again at the bottom, dropping 8.3 percent.

In general, however, print ads are being outpaced by online content marketing, according to a content creation company Curata's 2011 B2B Marketing Trends Survey, Business2Community reports.

Specifically, 82 percent of the more than 350 B2B marketers surveyed reported using content marketing – such as blog posts, photos, videos, case studies and whitepapers – to enhance brand visibility. Furthermore, researchers found that 79 percent of marketers share their content online, meaning more traditional methods may eventually fall by the wayside.
