March 7, 2013: It’s no secret that social media is an important channel of digital marketing. For B2B marketers, there are endless opportunities for leveraging social media platforms and strategies.

Research from Optify’s 2012 B2B Marketing Benchmark Report supports these statements. While the report reveals that, in 2012, social media as a whole brought in a smaller fraction (5%) of traffic and leads to B2B websites, it shows great potential. Twitter in particular proved to be the strongest performing platform for generating leads through social media. Optify’s data shows that Twitter contributed to 82% of social media generated leads, beating out Facebook and LinkedIn 9 to 1.
